The Parish Council are aware of a number of comments on social media around the temporary removal of 'Ollie' the swan. Ollie was removed on Saturday 24th October by the Wildlives Rescue Charity after being contacted by a concerned member of the public. Upon examination the charity discovered that Ollie had a deep rooted infection within the bone in his leg and is now receiving treatment for the infection. Ollie will be returned to the Country Park when clear of infection.
The Parish Council has also been informed that two further cygnets require medical attention. One has been removed already from the park after sustaining a dog bite and the other is to be removed in the next day or two due to not being able to bare weight on one leg.
The Parish Council understands that Wildlives Rescue Charity has received abusive calls and messages and does not condone this behaviour.
